Racines
Racines (German Ratschings) is one of the South Tyrolean Alpine Pearls, an association of 22 ski resorts located in 6 different European nations. They try to promote the protection of environment thanks to an efficient public transport net, city centers forbidden to cars, shuttle- bus services, leisure time activity which fully respect the surrounding nature. Racines is also famous for the Stanghe Waterfalls (Italian: Cascate di Stanghe, German: Gilfenklamm). They can be visited from May till October. Other Racines attraction are: Castel Wolfsthurm (German: Schloss Wolfsthurm) and the Provincial Mines Museum (Italian: Museo Provinciale delle Miniere, German: Südtiroler Bergbaumuseum Ridnaun Schneeberg). Racines is the central point of the Racines- Giovo (German: Ratschings- Jaufen) ski zone, offering 25 km of ski runs and 8 ski- and chair-lifts. Other possible activities during winter holidays in Racines are: curling, Nordic ski, ski tours, ice- skating, snowshoe hiking trips.
